Our Team


As the Head of his own firm, Richard Bookspan is experienced in the fields of Estate Planning,
Probate and Business Law. This includes wills and trusts, Powers of Attorney, formation of L.L.C.s,
corporations and partnerships, business agreements and small business transactions for companies not
publically traded.

Richard has over 35 years of legal experience. Richard is a member of the State Bar of Arizona,
the College of Estate Planning Attorneys, the Maricopa County Bar Association and the Solo and Small
Firm and the Estate Planning Sections of the State Bar of Arizona.

Richard holds a Juris Doctor degree in Law from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and a
B.A. degree from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA. and opened his current firm, Richard A.
Bookspan, P.C. in 1980.

Previously Richard promoted and managed bicycle racing events for major companies including
7-11, Nabisco Wheat Thins and the Fiesta Bowl. Promotions included Olympic Mountain Bike Trials and
other national events, as well as the Arizona State Championship Mountain Bike Series. Richard was a
high ranking USA Cycling official and motor cycle referee, working at National Championship events.

As a former road and mountain bike competitor, Richard is still an avid cyclist and hiker. He enjoys art,
reading and the outdoors through membership in the Phoenix Art Museum, the Scottsdale Center for
the Arts, Arizona Audubon and the Grand Canyon Trust. Richard and his wife, Susan, raised three sons
and now enjoy their grand children, all living in the Phoenix area.

Charlene Reeder, Legal Assistant

Charlene has been with the Richard A. Bookspan, P.C. law firm for 22+ years and provides
exceptional client services and care. She is in charge of all firm business operations and clients
appreciate her expert services. Charlene is the vital center of firm operations.

Charlene’s impressive work history includes, while in Prescott, AZ, being Lead Clerk for
Presiding Judge James Hancock and Presiding Judge Paul G. Rosenblatt, being selected by Judge
Hancock to assist with Justice Court procedures and staffing, and being asked by the City of
Prescott Management and City Court Magistrate to implement safety software procedures and

Charlene has worked within the legal field on estate planning and real estate and while in Santa
Barbara, CA., Charlene worked as an Executive Legal Team member with Santa Barbara Bank
and Trust and with Fess Parker Operations.

Charlene and her husband, with their two adult children, enjoy living in Phoenix-metro area..
Charlene, a custom needlework designer, is currently obtaining her certification as an antique
needlework appraiser and she is an active member of The Embroidery Guild of America..
Charlene, an avid reader, volunteers as a first responder team member in several local charity
organizations offering support to women in crisis.
